The Monarchy collection is more a lesson in realizing a dream, than selling a product. After 12 years in the clothing industry designing lines for other companies, Eric Kim, found the need to pursue his own vision overwhelming. So in 2004, he left a lucrative CEO position at a prestigious private label firm, and founded Monarchy.
Tapping into the talent pool of downtown Los Angeles, Eric assembled an eclectic mix of designers to achieve his vision. At the core of this collective are Cameron McEwan - Musician turned designer, Rich Yu - Multimedia aesthete, and Michael Seiler - Fine-art refugee. This creative nexus has facilitated the emergence of a brand interwoven with the collective unconscious at the core of Los Angeles. We don't just make this stuff... we live it.
