AOL Teens: Celebrity of the Month

Introducing June's Celebrity of the Month: Paul Walker.

Look familiar? You might know him as the quarterback in 'Varsity Blues.' You might also remember him from 'She's All That' and 'The Skulls.' He's the hunky blonde bound for big-time stardom.

This month is an important one for Paul, since he's starring in the upcoming drag-racing movie, 'The Fast and the Furious.' In honor of this momentous occasion, we went racing with him at SpeedZone and chatted about his need for speed.

After the racing -- and after Paul shook hands with a growing mob of fans -- he autographed a poster of his new movie. Wanna win it? Here's how: E-mail EntAsylumMail@aol.com with the answer to the question, "What kind of race car does Paul drive in real life?" (from Corinne- the answer is Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec) And remember, one entry per person. Multiple entries will be discarded. (See contest rules.) Good luck!

After racing around the tracks, we had a few minutes to chat with Paul about his need for speed.

EntAsylum: Have you ever drag raced before this movie?

Paul: I've always been into cars. I've always liked driving fast, as I think a lot of people do. I actually really got into racing just after finishing the film ['The Fast and the Furious']. Afterwards, I actually went out and bought an import car.

EntAsylum: What kind of car did you get?

Paul: The one I'm racing is called a Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec. I had it brought in from Japan. The steering wheel's on the right-hand side. It's dark silver and really cool.

EntAsylum: What's the appeal of extreme sports?

Paul: I like anything that really gets your blood pumping hard 'cause that's when you know you're really living.

EntAsylum: Any injuries to speak of?

Paul: I got my elbow right here. [Points out a nasty scar.] Novermber 13, 1994, opening day at Snow Summit. I went off a big double, snowboarding ... I got thrown off-kilter and the first thing I smacked was my elbow. Tricep tore lose, shattered my elbow, the whole bit. That was fun. No, that one hurt. [Laughs.]

EntAsylum: What sports do you still want to try that you haven't yet?

Paul: You know, I really want to get into whitewater rafting, kayaking. I've been sayin' that for years. A sport I really feel I missed out on -- people tell me it's not too late, but I think it probably is -- is ice hockey. In southern California, ice hockey isn't really that big. But that's something I'd really like to play.

Facts about Paul:

He began his acting career while still in diapers -- in a commercial for Pampers. At the time, his mom was a model. She was often asked to bring her cutie-pie son to the shoots with her.

Art imitates life ... Often cast in the role of jock, Paul is a sports fanatic. He's into skydiving, beach volleyball, snowboarding and racecar driving. His car of choice? A Nissan Skyline GT-R Vspec. Paul guest starred in a lot of late, great '80s sitcoms: 'Charles in Charge,' 'Growing Pains,' 'Who's the Boss?' and 'Diff'rent Strokes.'

He gave up acting briefly to pursue a degree in marine biology, attending various community colleges in Southern California. How does Paul describe his job? "Everyone looks at it -- they think it's so glamorous and great, which it is in a lot of ways. But at the same time, it's a lot of hard work. It's nice going home thinking, 'I put in a 20-hour day.'" His friends nicknamed him "The Vagrant" because he's constantly moving.

Overheard:

(on becoming the next Brad Pitt) "I don't listen to that stuff. It's flattering, but it's weird. I mean, Brad Pitt -- he's a total stud, way good-looking and cool, too. I'm just Paul."
