Vertically Challenged Fashion

Q: I am a small-figured guy and I often have problems finding clothes that fit me well. The clothes don’t even have to necessarily be tight, but well-tailored would be a plus. Do you know any retailers that sell smaller-fitting clothes? J.

A: Funny you should ask this question. We thought no one had the same problem as as at least one Solis fashion editor, who has trouble finding clothes that fit him well. Rest assured, it is possible to find some alternatives to the baggy clothes that are currently out there. Because the majority of the population isn’t small, not enough people buy the XS size; it just doesn’t pay for retailers and designers to offer a full range of styles at that end of the scale. You may find this suggestion funny, but try women’s or kids’ jeans/clothing. With some brands, you really can’t tell which sex they were designed for. Kids’ clothing is also a great option. Abercrombie & Fitch has its own kids’ clothing store, called abercrombie; the sizes run large, and the styles look almost the same as the grown-up versions. Seven jeans are a great jean brand; its men’s and women’s cuts are almost identical. If you feel uncomfortable wearing women’s or kids’ apparel, try Sisley. This Italian company makes very, very tailored clothing that is also very, very stylish. Good luck!
